Jesus and Mary are a couple going through a difficult time in their relationship. To shape their new life, they decide to buy a new coffee table. A decision that will change their lives.
The entire film was shot over a period of 10 days
Salesman: Glass is unbreakable, so your table will last forever. Featured in Half in the Bag: Top 10 Horror Movies (2024) Part 1 (2024). Jesus and Mary start out, not in a manger, but in a furniture store where a bossy salesman works tirelessly to sell them a coffee table.
Jesus has to put the coffee table together and an accident shatters his world
The hideous room features figures of naked women made of “fake gold” and what the man describes as “unbreakable” glass. The new mother is a little too old to have children and the couple seems to be going through a difficult time in their marriage. The first ten minutes of the film can be described as a comedy, but halfway through, things take a dark turn.
Don’t miss The Coffee Table
The final act is as well done as anything I’ve seen so far. A ten day shoot is a miracle these days and the script is concise and clever. A solid 9/10.
